Within 10 minutes I send an initial update explicitly split into confirmed facts, unknowns, and next validation checkpoints. After that I post updates every 15 minutes, including explicit no-change updates to keep alignment stable.
How do you decide when faster recovery increases risk, while safer controls delay recovery? Under what conditions do you switch decision criteria?
For initial containment I optimize for customer impact and service restoration, while tracking permanent fixes as a separate stream. I make decisions transparent using three points: expected damage, restoration time, and side-effect risk.
After mitigation, how do you operationalize the lessons at team level instead of ending with individual reflection? Please split actions into one-week and one-month horizons.
Within one week I publish a postmortem documenting recurrence conditions and detection gaps. Within one month I update thresholds, runbooks, and on-call coordination playbooks, then run a repeat drill to verify readiness.
If a separate critical incident starts while your first response is still active, how do you redesign priority and staffing in real time, including explicit tradeoffs?
I recompute priority using affected users, revenue impact, and expected restoration time, then reassign ownership by response stream. I also communicate which items are intentionally deprioritized and why, so stakeholders can align on tradeoffs before execution.
